Sport Utility Pickaroon with 36 Curved Hickory Handle

Council Tool Company is proud to announce the newly designed Pickaroon logging tool. This unique design does not replace their current Red Head Hookaroon, but there is some crossover between the two firewood tools. The Council Tool Pickaroon, however, will stand out on its own in terms of performing specific and important tasks and overall usability.

The Pickaroon features a 1.5 lbs. head with good balance, a 3-sided pick that is sharpened to a point out of the box, and an under-cutter on the bottom side of the pick that can be used to cleave off small limbs. The large poll face can be used to help pound bucking wedges or felling wedges. The tool also has a full-sized standard axe eye, allowing for readily available replacement handles. The 36" curved waxed handle option comes with a fawn's foot.

The primary use of the Sport Utility Pickaroon is in the handling of firewood, including moving, sorting, and carrying split firewood or complete rounds, as well as dragging or skidding small logs or branches. It is also ideal for driving or pounding felling and bucking wedges and rolling logs.

The Pickaroon's scope of application extends beyond firewood handling. It can be used for positioning logs on a sawmill, tail-boarding, and piling slab wood. Additionally, it can serve as a garden tool and for brush clearing, as well as for pulling or picking firewood out of the truck bed.

The unique three-sided pick of the logging tool is sharpened by filing a single facet that bisects all three planes. This allows for easy sharpening using a flat file to adjust the angle or sharpen the pick/point.

The sharp and narrow pick can penetrate side grain or end grain, and if driven hard enough, it can be used as an auxiliary handle for whatever needs to be grasped, such as firewood rounds, log ends, and timbers.
