The wedge-shaped blade, boasting a high centerline, helps prevent sticking during splitting. It adheres to ANSI standards with convex bevels/bit at 25 degrees.

According to Council Tool's internal standards, the bit must have a tempered hardness of Rc 48-55, with a target of 1-1/4 inches from the cutting edge, exceeding ANSI requirements which specify Rc 45-60 at least ½ inch back from the edge. The poll and eye walls remain in their as-forged condition without hardening. The head is coated with boiled linseed oil for rust prevention, featuring a Sport Utility forged finish.
